Fall Lawn Care & Landscaping Tips

September 16, 2022by Josh P

Fall is a beautiful time of year in Atlanta, and it’s the perfect time to get your lawn and landscaping ready for winter. Here are some tips to help you get started:

  • Start by raking up any leaves or debris that has accumulated on your lawn. This will help prevent diseases from spreading and will make it easier to mow the lawn later on.
  • Cut back any overgrown plants or shrubs, and trim any dead branches. This will help them look their best for the fall season.
  • Add some mulch to your flower beds and garden beds to help protect the plants from the cold weather.
  • Add organic matter to your soil to improve drainage and help your lawn recover from summer heat.
  • Mow your lawn low – Leave your lawn at about 2 inches high during the fall months. This will help protect it from cold weather damage.
  • Aerate your lawn – Aerating your lawn helps improve water drainage and allows oxygen and nutrients to reach the roots better. You can aerate your lawn by either renting an aerator or using a manual aerator tool.
  • Fertilize your lawn – Apply a fall fertilizer to help keep your lawn healthy through the winter months. Look for a fertilizer that contains nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
